Practice Areas:

Governmental Authorities

Our firm is solicitor to local governmental authorities and has been regularly engaged to assist authorities in special projects.

Papernick & Gefsky’s attorneys have substantial experience in the areas of law and practice which are important to the effective operation of governmental authorities.  The firm regularly handles public meetings on behalf of the authorities and advises its clients on issues that arise in or from meetings, such as legal notice, “Sunshine Act” and procedural requirements.  We work closely with our authority clients on information requests under the “Right to Know” and FOIA statutes, the establishment of policies and procedures, asset acquisitions and disposition, and contract matters.  The firm regularly gives advice and counsel on, and litigates, public bidding and contract disputes.

Of particular note, Papernick & Gefsky has an active practice in representing authorities, as well as private parties, in connection with securing federal, state and local grants, governmental loan guaranty programs, public note offerings, tax-exempt financing projects and tax increment financing (“TIF”) transactions.
